Salsa dancers are very fortunate to be able to find places to dance all over the world. When traveling to Orlando, on International Drive is the restaurant, Cuba Libra, which turns into a Latin night club on Friday nights. We walked to the venue from a nearby hotel, but there was valet parking for the restaurant. If you arrive early for dinner, you don’t have to pay a cover charge for the dance night. However, the food was very pricey and not very good so eat at your own risk. The service was very good and the staff very friendly.
The venue is very impressive: spacious with beautiful décor. The restaurant is smoke-free and has great space for dancing. The floor is tile with some uneven spots and grooves but good for club dancing. The temperature on the dance floor was quite hot. The AC needed to kick in for the crowd.
The DJ mixed bachata like hip hop music, which was odd because dancers need a consistent beat to dance. And even more amusing, a live band came to play; however, they were really a karaoke band, they sang karaoke over the music and a couple of instruments tried to play as well. The band couldn’t synch with the beat and it was quite awful to listen to.
