During our recent travels to South Florida, we found many smoke-free salsa dance venues. Near both Miami and Ft. Lauderdale, in the Hollywood area, there are many places to dance (not all smoke-free). We visited Legends Café, which was a quaint, entertaining venue that offers food and drinks along with a nice dance floor and often live entertainment. The city had waived the parking fee at the meters on the street so parking was free. We arrived early enough to easily find space.
Cover charge is usually $10 per person and the food ranges approximately $25 per entre. The service was good and the staff cordial. We ordered steak for dinner and it was prepared perfectly. Our experience in South Florida is the service is not very friendly and the service at Legends was a bit above average.
The venue was impressive: spacious with warm décor. The restaurant is smoke-free and has decent space for dancing. The floor is tile and seemed clean enough to use suede dance shoes. The temperature on the dance floor was perfectly chilled. The restaurant pumped up the AC for the crowd.
The DJ played a combination salsa, merengue and bachata. Later in the evening a live band played amazingly. The night we visited, the crowd was the perfect size to have just enough room to dance. However, the dance floor isn’t huge so on a really busy night it may be challenging to find room. Regardless, this is a must visit venue in South Florida.
