Atlanta is a hot salsa scene with many new dance locations such as Ritmos Del Barrio’s Knights of Columbus dance social, which happens every first Friday of the month centrally located in Atlanta.
The event organizers are very friendly to their guests making newcomers feel comfortable and welcomed. Admission is $15 or $10 with student identification, which includes a dance class at 8:30 pm and free parking. However the parking is a bit limited and may be a challenge later in the evening.
Ritmos Del Barrio features primarily salsa music with an occasional cha cha and bachata. The atmosphere at Knights of Columbus is an old, casual event facility without much character; however, it has plenty of space to dance with nice hardwood floors ― very important for spinning.
This event also provides free food (usually Indian cuisine) and the bar offers inexpensive drinks. The dance floor does not allow smoking but the nearby bar area allows it. Fortunately most serious dancers do not smoke so smoking is not bothersome.
