A recent survey by Salsa Sexy on Facebook asked which dance followers found most sexy. Thirty eight percent of survey respondents said tango was most sexy, the other 62% said salsa. Tango is a sensual, sexy ballroom that originated in Argentina. Like salsa, often the tango taught in ballrooms in America and other places around the world is much different than Argentine tango.
American tango features many turns and sharp movements and poses, along with slow, sensual movements to draw a distinction between steps. According toeHow, “The count for many of the beginning steps in tango is slow, slow, quick, quick, slow. A slow count is held for two beats and a quick is one beat. The steps should be staccato, meaning that you strike the floor quickly with your foot, not shuffling or dragging your feet – the only exception is the final slow count of the pattern, where you slowly drag in your free foot. Your knees should remain bent through most of the dance, with some exceptions.”
When danced with passion and a style of temptation, tango can be a very sexy dance. The slow steps and the close position of the partners create the seductive tension. The quick steps and the swift turn of the head begin the tease. The man enticingly moves in for the dip and hopeful kiss, but the lady tauntingly turns her face away. Sexy teasing dance of tango suggests sexual tension; making it a very sensual dance experience for both the dancer and audience.
