I hear it all the time. Ladies want a sexy looking car that is reliable with a low maintenance cost and easy on gas. The good news is there are plenty of cars on the market to satisfy their taste. As a matter of fact, the fastest growing car category in the market is exactly what these ladies are demanding.
For many years, domestic car manufacturers lagged in quality and reliability compared to Asian car makers. The economic crisis that began in 2007 and peaked in 2009 hit car makers hard, especially domestic car manufacturers like General Motors and Chrysler. In 2006, almost 17 millions new cars were sold in the United States. The 2009 sales of light vehicles (cars and light trucks) in the United States came in at the bottom end of the estimates. Americans bought only 10.4 million units, the lowest level in 27 years. This caused General Motors and Chrysler to go bankrupt resulting in government bail out. Ford fared better and barely avoided bankruptcy (maybe due to some luck!).
Today, American car manufacturers are financially solid and making record profits. The buyers are back to replace their old cars (average car on the road is more than 10 years old) and the industry as a whole expects to sell more than 14 million cars in 2013. The domestic manufacturers are benefiting not only from increasing demand for new cars; they now offer the most competitive, reliable, full efficient cars ever made domestically. Here are my choices for ladies who want reliable and fuel efficient domestically made cars that are sexy!
1- Ford Focus. Ford Focus was totally redesigned for 2012 based on their European model. Everything about this car is astonishing. The base car comes with a 2 liter engine with 37-40 highway miles per gallon! With nimble handling, stylish exterior, high quality functional interior, many high-tech options to choose from, and smooth fuel efficient engine. Ford Focus is a great car.
2- Chevrolet Cruze. The most fuel efficient cars in America used to be either Honda Civic, Mazda 3, Toyota Corolla and Volkswagen Jetta (Diesel). But now things are different. Chevrolet Cruze, debuted in 2011 changed everything. For the first time, a domestic manufacturer introduced a competitive, fuel efficient car that matches or beat every other car in its category. Under the hood you have a choice of two engines. Base models have a 136-horsepower 1.8-liter four-cylinder, but most Cruzes actually come with a turbocharged 1.4-liter engine. The turbocharged engine produces the same amount of horsepower, but it is more fuel efficient. Chevrolet Cruze has proved to be reliable, fuel efficient, comfortable with good built quality. Highly recommended.
