Fashion trends: thigh high boots – trashy or classy?

sexy legsThe weather is cooling down, leaves are beginning to change colors, and pumpkins are found throughout neighborhoods.  Fall is here and fashionistas everywhere cheer to bring out their boots. Ankle boots, knee boots, snake skin boots and more ― boots have become a must have addition to a fashion-conscious lady’s wardrobe.

Over the past couple of years, Hollywood stars made the thigh high boot become main stream. Paparazzi photographers have taken photos of celebrities like Rihanna, Madonna, Miley Cyrus, Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Lopez with sexy thigh high boots. However, look at online discussion boards and you’ll find that either the ladies love them or hate them.  Many ladies find the thigh high boot as a symbol of the street hooker and too trashy to wind up in their closest.  While others find them fun, sexy and chic depending how the boots compliment the entire outfit.

Obviously wearing thigh high boots with very short skirts or hot pants may create a more hookerish look – especially if you wear multiple colors, mismatched with fish net stockings! Those that fear the thigh high boot as too trashy can definitely tone it down.  Here are some tips to pull off the thigh high and still feel classy:

  1. Wear tights the same color as the boots to create a classier, stylish look.
  2. Try skinny jeans under the thigh highs for a sportier style.
  3. Create layered look with a baggier dress and sweater that flows close to the top of the boot.
