sexy glassesSummer is upon us – the sun shines brightly, temperatures are rising and outdoor activities abound. During the summer, as well as year-round, sunglasses serve as a practical outdoor necessity. The UV coating protects our eyes and provides enough shade to endure the bright light. However, since sunglasses are also a main feature on your face, it inevitably also becomes a fashion statement. Choosing the right style is important to complement your features. Similar to picking a hair style, sunglasses should complement your facial structure. Here are some tips on how to choose sunglasses based on the shape of your face.

Oblong/rectangular shaped face means that your face is same width at brow, cheeks and jaw is narrow in proportion to length. Typically, oblongs can wear rounder, over sized glasses versus small or square framed glasses.

Round shaped faces have a more circular shaped that bodes well for glasses with a rectangular or square shaped frame. Often times round shaped faces will want to avoid over sized glasses as the look will over accentuate the roundness of the face.

Square shaped faces are again more literally square looking. This type does better with a cat eye styled sunglasses that softens the square frame. Over sized sunglasses look good with a square face as well.

An oval face has the length of the face noticeably longer than the width. A heart shaped face tends to widen at the forehead and/or cheekbone with prominent pointy chin. Luckily oval and heart shaped faces can get away with almost any style sunglasses. However, depending on the proportion of your face to the sunglasses, you may find your features become more positively accentuated with one type versus another.
