In today’s economy, staying on top of the fashion trends can become a challenge. On the one hand you may want new pieces for your wardrobe to stay trendy. On the other hand, it’s not affordable to keep adding to your closet every season. Fortunately this fall and winter fashion season includes great staple colors that you can add to your wardrobe and the new additions to your closet can be relevant for longer than one season. My favorite 2012 fall color trends include:
1. Black and white.
Black is a staple color that tends to work well for everyone. Additionally, over the past few years, white has been fashionable to wear year round. A tip to stay on trend and not break the bank includes combining pieces in a black and white ensemble can extend your summer style into the fall. For example, I have a white summer sleeveless dress that I can easily convert to fall. Belts are still in style; so I add a thick or thin black belt along with a black cardigan sweater and knee high boots. Viola! Summer converted to fall by simply shuffling current pieces from my closet.
I love red and most blondes, brunettes and black haired ladies look great in a bright red. Red heads may need a muted red to pull it off. However, many feel intimidated by wearing a completely red dress or blouse. For those who don’t want to plunge into a red outfit, I suggest accenting your black dresses with red belts, shoes or scarves to give some life to your look while staying on trend in 2012.
Wine shades and burgundy colors are hot for fall 2012. I’ve always been a fan of burgundy especially the tones that fall toward the red palette. Since burgundy tones range from soft muted to raspberry bright, you can experiment with the tones against your skin color to find the right shade to complement you. A very outstanding look this fall includes burgundy colored shiny rain coats that look hot on a cool, rainy day.
